“Firsat” is a Turkish word when translated to English means “opportunity.” The story of Oz Family Cigars is inspired by the real life journey of Esen and Cano Ozgener.

“Firsat” represents their dream to come to America. A country representing freedom and opportunity. Symbolized by the Statue of Liberty. Through hard work and diligence, Cano & Esen earned scholarships for graduate degrees in the US — Cano at Columbia University for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, and Esen as the Fulbright scholar at Bank Street College of Education.

They met at the International House in New York City and fell in love — with shared interests in arts, culture, and industriousness.
